What is the Statewide Law Enforcement on Violence Against Women? What is VAWT?

The Statewide Law Enforcement on Violence Against Women conducts free training for law enforcement officers and telecommunicators/9-1-1 dispatchers from across the state of Texas. The main purpose of the training is to assist law enforcement agencies in developing and strengthening their response to combating violent crimes against women.

VAWT is the acronym for the program, Violence Against Women Training.

Is the VAWT Program part of the SAFVIC Program?

The VAWT Program was created by the SAFVIC Program in 2010 and are both funded by the Criminal Justice Department of the Texas Governor’s Office. Both programs run independently of each other but work together to achieve the same common goal of combating violence against women.
